Questions and Replies

The right of Members to put questions to Ministers is an important part of ensuring the executive authority’s accountability to the Provincial Parliament. Questions may be put to Ministers related to their spheres of responsibility. Replies to questions are either given orally in the House or in writing. The replies to oral questions are recorded in Hansard.

With regard to his commitment in March 2020 to relocate 75 households from Kanana to the Forest Village Housing Project:

  1. (a) Why did the beneficiaries approved for BNG houses in Forest Village in 2020 not

receive their houses and (b) what is the status of the beneficiaries from Kanana who were approved for Forest Village but never relocated;

  1. whether the beneficiaries remain approved for Forest Village; if not, (a) what project

are they allocated to and (b) when will they receive their houses; if so, when will they receive their houses;

  1. why has his 2020 commitment to prioritise “disabled, vulnerable and elderly

community members” not been honoured and (b) how does his Department intend to assist or communicate with these approved beneficiaries?

On 10 May 2022 the Equal Education Law Centre presented information to the Standing Committee on Education regarding challenges related to learner admissions in the Western Cape. During this session, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) committed to providing updates to the Standing Committee on Education on the progress of the online appeal process pilot project by the end of the last quarter of 2022:

(1)     What is the comprehensive update on the pilot project;

(2)       whether the pilot project has been initiated; if not, (a) why not and (b) what is the reason for the delay; if so, what is the current status?

(a) Who is the owner of the Old Stone Church Precinct, (b) what are the details of “The Range”, (c) who is the agent managing the letting of this portion of the property, (d) what are the monthly rental rates being paid by “The Range” for this part of the property to the owner of the property or the agent and (e) what are the details of the annual remuneration agreement between the Department and the agent;
  2. whether his Department has an agent managing the agreement with SANParks under whose management the Manor House Precinct currently is; if not, why not; if so, (a) who is the agent, (b) what are the monthly rental rate being paid by SANParks for this part of the property to the owner of the property or the agent and (c) what are the details of the annual remuneration agreement between the Department and the agent?
