Accurate reporting is compromised by the fact that many children and adults in conflict with the law are aware of the legal implications of acknowledging gang affiliation in terms of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA) and would therefore deny gang involvement /affiliation. Also, our Performance Information does not disaggregate gang-related crimes from other crimes.
The below numbers can however be reported:
