  1. Which municipalities in the Western Cape applied for national COVID-19 municipal relief funding and/or any change in the use of their grants from the National Treasury and (b) which municipalities received the funding?
Answer Body: 

(a)All thirty municipalities applied for the Municipal Disaster Relief Grant funding, however all municipalities except for the City of Cape Town received an allocation for
COVID-19 response. The City of Cape Town was requested to reprioritise their Municipal Urban Infrastructure Grant.

Thee grants were approved for the following priority areas in Municipalities:

  1. Decontamination of specific selected spaces(i.e.)
  1.    Municipal offices;
  2.    Municipal buildings used by communities;
  3. Ablution facilities in public spaces; and
  4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hygiene packs
  5. Sanitation
  6. Waste Management
