- Which municipalities in the Western Cape applied for national COVID-19 municipal relief funding and/or any change in the use of their grants from the National Treasury and (b) which municipalities received the funding?
(a)All thirty municipalities applied for the Municipal Disaster Relief Grant funding, however all municipalities except for the City of Cape Town received an allocation for
COVID-19 response. The City of Cape Town was requested to reprioritise their Municipal Urban Infrastructure Grant.
Thee grants were approved for the following priority areas in Municipalities:
- Decontamination of specific selected spaces(i.e.)
- Municipal offices;
- Municipal buildings used by communities;
- Ablution facilities in public spaces; and
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hygiene packs
- Sanitation
- Waste Management
