(1)    Whether any financial support has been provided to the Kannaland Municipality for COVID-19-related activities; if so, what are the relevant details.

(2)    how many food parcels did the Municipality hand out by using municipal resources?
 

Answer Body: 

2(1)     Yes, a Municipal Disaster Relief Grant of R298 000 (from the National Department of CoGTA) used for chemical toilets in informal areas (R135 755.50), Thermometers (R4100.00), hand sanitizers (R9380.00), face masks (R11 874.72), water tanks for informal areas (R77 628.00), hand sanitation containers 
(R16 052,23), PPE for officials (R43 209.55); and a Humanitarian Relief Support Grant of R450 000 (from the Provincial Department of Local Government) was used for food security, R315 000 for food parcels and R135 000 for soup kitchens. 

(2)      The Municipality did not purchase any food parcels from its own funds, but the 
R315 000 mentioned above was used to purchase 450 food parcels at R700.00 each feeding a family of 5 for a month. The purpose of the grant was to support those who were adversely affected by the Covid pandemic and an objective application process was followed to determine the allocation of these food parcels. This process has been completed.
