  1. With regard to the User Asset Management Plan (U-AMP), what upgrades and maintenance were done at the (a) West End Primary School, (b) Merrydale Primary School, (c) Highlands Primary School, (d) Tafelsig Secondary School, (e) Aloe Secondary School and (f) AZ Berman Secondary School;
  1. whether U-AMP-related upgrades or maintenance strategies are planned for the next two financial years for the schools in (1); if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

The following is based on upgrades and or maintenance which is planned for the 2020/21 & 2021/22 financial years.

Schools are included in the planned, Scheduled (Corrective), Maintenance Sub-Programme on the basis of priority. This is related to the condition of the school facility.  In other words, schools in a worse condition are prioritised over schools in a better condition.

The upgrading of existing school facilities, whether to expand or to replace parts thereof, forms part of broad, long-term, planning process. This process responds to, primarily, learner enrolment pressure & compliance of the existing school facility with the statutory Norms & Standards prescripts.

  1. West-Eind Primary School: no maintenance or upgrades planned in the 2020/21 & 2021/22 financial years.
  2. Merrydale Primary School: no maintenance or upgrades planned in the 2020/21 & 2021/22 financial years.
  3. Highlands Primary School: maintenance is planned for the 2020/21 financial year, no upgrades or maintenance planned for the 2021/2022 financial year.
  4. Tafelsig Secondary School: no maintenance or upgrades planned in the 2020/21 & 2021/22 financial years.
  5. Aloe Secondary School: no maintenance or upgrades planned in the 2020/21 & 2021/22 financial years.
  6. AZ Berman Secondary School: Upgrades are planned. 2020/21 marks the commencement of the design process towards construction of new brick-and-mortar school to commence in the 2021/22 financial year.
