- Whether a certain person, whose name has been furnished to her Department for the purpose of her reply, is employed at the Vlottenburg Primary School; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) what are the details of the qualifications and experience of this person;
- whether her Department has received complaints alleging that this person may be employed without qualifications; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) what steps have been taken to investigate these complaints?
Answer Body:
Yes, the person is employed by the School Governing Body.
(b) The person claims to be qualified to teach and has supplied us with documentation, which has been sent to the South African Council for Educators (SACE) for purposes of verification. SACE is investigating the person’s status as a qualified teacher and we are waiting for further feedback.
(2) Yes.
(a) A complaint was received from a community activist.
(b) The teacher is employed in an SGB post, as confirmed by the SGB. Under guidance from FEDSAS, they are following processes defined in the Labour Relations Act to determine whether to continue the person’s employment or not. We await the outcome of this process.
