Community Safety
With reference to the provision of South African Police Service (SAPS) resources to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV):
(a) How many police stations in the eight GBV hotspots in the province have dedicated GBV desks, (b) what services are provided at these desks, (c) of the desks referred to in (a), how many SAPS officers per police station are fully trained to support the desks’ operations, (d) how many SAPS officers have undergone victim empowerment training per police station in the province, (e) how does the SAPS determine the quantity of rape kits supplied to police stations and (f) what is the number of rape kits available at each police station in the province?

5. (a) All eight GBV hotspots in the province have dedicated GBV desks.
(b) Provision for a victim-friendly service to victims of GBV. These services will include initial debriefing, the identification of victim’s needs, emotional support, practical assistance and referral to appropriate service providers.
