With regard to the provincial Broadband Roll-out Programme:

(a)   What is the total number of Wi-Fi hotspots in the province that (i) is not in a government building or office or school and (ii) is in a government building or office or school, (b) what (i) are the locations of the Wi-Fi hotspots that are stand-alone sites and/or not in government buildings, (ii) is the number of unique users of these sites per month over the past 24 months and (iii) is the amount of data used per user during that period?

Answer Body: 

(a) (i) All 1275 WCG public WiFi hotspots are at government buildings (schools, offices, hospitals, clinics etc). Note that 1256 of the sites are at buildings occupied by the WCG, while 19 of them are at municipal head office buildings.

(b) (ii) As above, all 1275 WCG public WiFi hotspots are at WCG buildings (schools, offices, hospitals and clinics)

  1. (i) None

(ii)There have been an average of 273 274 devices connecting to the Public WiFi   service each month.

(iii) Each device utilises an average of 750MB per month.
