[1] [a] The priority Disability project for this Department is the identification of children and youth with disabilities who do not receive any care and support services within the Mufleni, Vredenburg and Diazville areas. This is a pilot project in partnership with the Department of Health and various Disability NGOs. The first phase was to identify children and youth during a door to door survey in these areas and to provide the appropriate services to these beneficiaries.
[b] R800 000 for 14/15 financial year;
[c] As mentioned this is a pilot project and the 2nd phase of this project was to develop a uniformed referral pathway to be used by all Departments and NGOs when referring a child or young person with a disability in order to ensure that they do access appropriate support/services. This project will be rolled out to the rest of the Province as from April 2016.
[d] This project is implemented by the Department of Social Development and relevant NGOs and it will be monitored by the office of the Chief Director: Social Welfare Services.
