Based on a programmatic approach (daily lesson plans)

Fun, play and recreational games forms the basis of the daily activities whilst Holiday and Public Holiday Programmes would follow a “themed format”

  1. How are the programmes being monitored in each centre in terms of effectiveness?

Response:

  • Each MOD centre has dedicated staff (Coach, Assistant Coach – Sport; Ass Coach – Arts & Culture) on a daily basis to monitor activities and attendance.

  • Each MOD centre is visited once a week by the MCM (MOD Centre Management) staff to
    • Meet with principals to ensure sustainability of the MOD program, possible changes to the weekly timetable and a status update.
    • Check the attendance registers
    • Check the dress code of all coaches
    • Interact and advise coaching staff accordingly on the daily lesson plans
    • Provide feedback or information to coaches from the District Office or Head Office.
  • The MCM engage and advise the coaches with regards to programme delivery and oversight
    • Mentor and guide coaches i.e. give guidance on the drafting of and implementation of lesson plans and all other documents (timesheets, stats template, asset registers, monthly reports etc)
    • Provide oversight with regards to the collation of weekly statistics and monthly reports inclusive of holiday programmes.
  • Each MOD centre Incident reports are interrogated by the MCM
    • These incidents could be potential threats to programme delivery at the MOD centre.
    • These incident reports are perused and categorised in terms of severity for onward reporting and appropriate action.
    • Typical incidents could be but not limited to: -
      • Minor or major injury during activities
      • Damage to school property e.g. broken window etc.
      • Damage to equipment – e.g. punctured balls etc.
      • Violence within the community – e.g. gang violence
      • Violence on the school premises – e.g. fight between learners
      • Catastrophe on school premises – e.g. burglary, fire etc.
  • Each MOD centre attendance registers (learners & coaches) are recorded daily and submitted weekly to Head Office for analysis
    • Learner attendance registers are completed daily by the coach.
    • Collected weekly by the MCM and
    • Submitted weekly to the knowledge and information unit every Monday for analysis.
    • Timesheets (of each staff member at a MOD centre) are signed daily and collected weekly by MCM.
    • These are then verified and collated weekly and submitted to HR support sector on a monthly basis.
  • District Administrators provide oversight in terms of data collection, report writing and meeting with principals and community stakeholders in terms of community development with the aim of synergising programmes.
