Who are the learners, (b) from which schools, (c) what measure of financial assistance and (d) for what purpose have they received awards or benefits from the agreement with Nedbank from 2010 up to and including the latest date for which information is available?

Answer Body: 

The competition is open to (a) grade 11 learners from (b) all of the province’s 213 secondary schools who are taking Economics and Mathematics and/or Accounting as subjects. A list indicating the name and surname, race and gender, school attended, study course and institution of study of the beneficiaries of the agreement with Nedbank from 2010 is attached as Annexure A.

 

(c) The aim of the essay writing competition is to provide learners interested in studying Economics, Accounting and Mathematics the opportunity to access bursaries in the fields of commerce and in doing so address the scarcity of skills in these sectors. The bursary covers all tuition and registration fees as well as a specific amount for prescribed textbooks.

 

(d) Besides the bursaries offered, a cash prize is also awarded to each of the bursary winners as well as each the finalists to use towards their grade 12 academic year.
