- During the past three years GMT received the ICT Public Service Award for 2016 to the value of R100 000.00. This award was received for the successful implementation of the Oracle E-business suite at GMT. The amount of R100 000.00 was paid into GMT’s revenue account and will be recorded as such in the annual Financial Statements of 31 March 2017. The registration fee of the official accepting the award on behalf of the department was waived by the organisers of the award.
GMT also received the Oracle Leadership in Finance Award for Europe, Middle East and Africa 2016 at a function held on the 19 September 2016 in San Francisco, United States. This award was based on the implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite. This award had no monetary value and the organisers of the award waived the registration cost of the official acting as the recipient of the award.
The department of the Premier received communication from the Consul General of India regarding a civilian training programme called the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) and the Special Commonwealth Assistance for Africa Programme (SCAAP). It was offered by the Indian Government via their Ministry of External Affairs for the year 2015/2016.
The Objective of the programme is to aid capacity development of friendly developing countries. Within the context of this programme, 100 training slots were allocated to South Africa for the year 2015/2016 and this Department nominated one official to attend this course. The courses on offer were in the fields of finance SME, rural development and renewable energies, to name a few. The Ministries of External Affairs of India paid for flight tickets from the participant’s capital city and a living allowance as determined in the ITEC/SCAAP Terms and Conditions.
No counter performance was given or asked from the Department.
