How many foreign doctors have been appointed in the province in (i) 2009, (ii) 2010, (iii) 2011, (iv) 2012, (v) 2013, (vi) 2014, (vii) 2015, (viii) 2016 and (ix) to date in 2017 and (b) (i) why, (ii) where and (iii) for how long have they been appointed?

- (i) Foreign Doctors are appointed when there is a real need and there are no suitable South African citizens to be appointed.
(ii) Attached
(iii) The appointments are made for various periods, dependant on the need. Training ranks such as Registrars will be appointed for a period of 4 years as part of the registrarship period, whereas Interns are appointed for one year and other appointments range from six months to two years.
