How many vacancies are there in the (a) neonatal and (b) maternity wards at Western Cape health facilities?
Answer Body:
The maternity and neonatal units are serviced by the same staff at hospitals. In rural areas, staff working at these units also render services at other health institutions. The attached list gives an indication of facilities where there are currently vacancies.
There are currently 1 040 staff members working in these units with a vacancy rate of 4.06%. This represents 44 posts which are funded but currently vacant. The recruitment and selection process for these posts are currently in progress.
