With regard to the investigation into the Riverlands Dam that collapsed on 8 August 2024, which found that the collapsed dam wall falls under the jurisdiction of the national Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development:
Whether he has received any feedback and timelines thus far from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development as to the steps that will be taken in conjunction with surrounding municipalities; if so, what (a) feedback and (b) timelines have been received?
Answer Body:
- Notwithstanding that my Department has followed up with the National Department relating to the feedback and timeframes, I have not received the requested information to date. Consequently, I am processing correspondence to the National Minister on same. On receipt of such information will I respond to the questions.
