(1)    Which law governs how children should be transported in vehicles and (b) up until what age or height should children be transported in car or booster seats;

(2)    whether his Department enforces these regulations; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
 

Answer Body: 

(1)    The law which governs how children should be transported in vehicles is the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996.

(b)    Unfortunately, there is no requirement for the use of booster seats in our law.  

(2)    While there may not be a requirement for the use of booster seats in our law, the Department has identified safety belt compliance as one of its priority operational mandates.  Provincial Law enforcement operations that focus on safety belt compliance are a feature across the Province.
