Why has his Department not considered converting the vacant JJ du Pre le Roux building in the Drakenstein Municipality into a frail-care centre for the Rusthof Old-age Home?
The property, known as the former JJ du Preez Clinic in Paarl is earmarked for eventual utilization by the Western Cape Government. However, the Department of Transport and Public Works is considering the short-term letting of the property for community purpose. The letting of the property for community purposes will, in order to afford all interested parties, the opportunity, be advertised for the invitation of offers to lease. This will afford the Rusthof Old-age home the opportunity to submit an offer to lease the property. Should their offer be successful, the Rusthof Old-age Home can attend to the utilization of the property as a frail-care centre during the period of lease.
