With reference to Metrorail’s Western Cape Security Team and the vandalism of trains and related infrastructure in the Western Cape:
(a) What challenges does the team face, (b) what resources are required so that it can conduct its mandate efficiently, (c) how many incidents of vandalism have taken place in (i) July 2021, (ii) August 2021 and (iii) September 2021 in the province and (d) what is the rand value of this per month?
In terms of Rule 196 [1] a member may put a question to any member of the Provincial Cabinet concerning any matter falling within the area of responsibility of that member of the Provincial Cabinet. Metrorail is a component of PRASA, a SOE which is wholly owned by the National Government.
