WHAT’S ON

This week the Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s standing committees will continue to meet
virtually. This week will focus on the scrutiny of the Division of Revenue Bill and conducting public
hearings. In addition, the Ad hoc Committee on COVID-19 continues its oversight over the Executive
in terms of its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.


As per normal, the Western Cape Provincial Parliament continues to conduct its Parliamentary
Sittings on Thursdays. The virtual sitting this week will see the Minister for Finance, Economic
Opportunities and Tourism, David Maynier, table the Adjustment Appropriation Bill.

Here is a summary of committee meetings and sittings taking place this week:


Monday, 20 July 2020
09:00 -The Budget Committee will meet virtually to consider and adopt the final mandate report on
the Division of Revenue Bill [B 3-2020] (NCOP). The committee will also be briefed by Provincial
Treasury on the 2019/2020 4 th Quarter Performance Report and consider and adopt the first draft of
the 1 st Quarterly Report (April-June 2020).

Tuesday, 21 July 2020
09:00 -12:00 - The Standing Committee on Social Development will conduct virtual public hearings
on the Western Cape Laws Repeal Bill [B5-2019].

13:00 – 16:00- The Standing Committee on Education will meet virtually and be briefed by the
Western Cape Education Department on their contributions towards the National Date-Driven
District project which forms part of the South African School Administration and Management
System (SA-SAMS)

13:00 – 16:00 – The Petitions Committee will be discussing the petition submitted by Mr Barry
Jacobs from Groot Brak in Mossel Bay.

14:00 – 16:00 - The Standing Committee on Transport and Public Works will be briefed by the Acting
Chief Executive Officers and the Administrator of PRASA on the turnaround strategy for the Western
Cape , the procurement process for the security wall, the security contract and filling of senior
positions.

Wednesday, 22 July 2020
08:00 – 12:00 – The Standing Committee on Finance, Economic Opportunities and Tourism will be
discussing the resolutions submitted by Members following the briefing by Kannaland Local
Municipality on the solar power project.

13:00 – 16:00 – The Ad Hoc Committee on COVID-19 will be meet virtually and be briefed by
representatives from private hospitals and the Hospital Facility Board on their readiness for COVID-
19 as well as engagements with COVID-19 survivors.

Thursday, 23 July 2020
14:15 – The Sitting of the House will deal with the tabling of the Western Cape 2020/2021 First
Adjustment Appropriation Bill as well as interpellations, questions, statements and motions.
