In respect of her Department’s performance measured against the performance targets set between 2019 and 2023:
(a) What is her Department’s core mandates, (b) what are the annual targets attached to each core mandate, (c) how has her Department performed against its performance targets in (i) 2019, (ii) 2020, (iii) 2021, (iv) 2022 and (v) 2023 to date, (d) what is the detailed breakdown of each performance target per programme, (e) what are the challenges that her Department faced in achieving its targets and (f) what are the plans that her Department has put in place to improve its performance?
Answer Body:
- The Department of Health and Wellness has several National and Provincial mandates to fulfil as outlined annually in the Annual Performance Plans. Our core mandate remains our constitutional imperative to progressively realize the right to healthcare for the citizens of the Western Cape.
- – (f) The annual targets linked with this mandate per programme, the respective performance, and reasons for deviation as well as remedial plans are detailed in each year’s Annual Report. An extract from the Annual Reports is captured in Annexure A attached detailing this response.
