Questions and Replies

The right of Members to put questions to Ministers is an important part of ensuring the executive authority’s accountability to the Provincial Parliament. Questions may be put to Ministers related to their spheres of responsibility. Replies to questions are either given orally in the House or in writing. The replies to oral questions are recorded in Hansard.

(1)    (a) Which department in the City of Cape Town made the offers to purchase to the seller, (b) if it was the City’s Property Management Department, under which acquiring department’s request or instruction were these offers made, (c) which erven were acquired by the Housing Development Agency(HDA) and (d) what was the purchase price;

(2)    whether his Department relies on the City’s alleged offer to determine the purchase price; if so, what are the relevant details; if not,

(3)    whether it obtained its own valuations; if so, (a) which valuers provided the valuations and (b) what were the valuations;

(4)    (a) which entity paid for the purchase, (b) why did the City allege its land acquisition process would “take too long” and (c) if the City’s processes would “take too long”, why did the City allegedly make two offers to purchase;

With regard to phase 2 of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in the province:

(1)    How many people have been (a) registered to receive vaccines to date and (b) vaccinated to date;

(2)    whether all the healthcare workers in the province have been vaccinated; if not, (a) how many healthcare workers still need to be vaccinated and (b) what is the reason for the process not being completed;

(3)    (a) what is the current daily average number of registrations in the province recorded on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) and (b) how many doses of the vaccine have been received per week since the start of phase 2 to date;
