Public participation is a vital component of the functioning of our parliament. Our focus is on building stronger relations with the people of the Western Cape to promote the essential role of active citizenship in the law-making processes. The WCPP is also responsible for ensuring that the Executive of the Western Cape Government is held accountable for the spending of taxpayers’ money and for providing the necessary services. The WCPP fulfils this role by conducting vigorous oversight over the provincial departments through its standing committees.
