Public Service Commission to report on findings
The Public Service Commission (PSC) will present the report of its investigation into the Western Cape South African Police Service (SAPS) personnel practices and shortages to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Community Safety on Wednesday, 15 August. The investigative report is as a result of the standing committee’s request to the PSC to address the effect that under-resourcing has on policing in the province.
Public hearings on Land Transport Amendment Bill
The Standing Committee on Transport and Public Works invites stakeholders and interested persons and organisations to attend public hearings and to submit written submissions on the National Land Transport Amendment Bill [B 7B–2016] (NCOP).
The Amendment Bill seeks to amend the National Land Transport Act, 2009 (Act 5 of 2009), to among others:
Public hearings on Marine Spatial Planning Bill
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Environmental Affairs and Development Planning invites stakeholders and interested persons and organisations to attend public hearings and to submit written submissions on the Marine Spatial Planning Bill [B 9D–2017] (NCOP).
The Bill seeks to create a marine spatial planning system that promotes economic growth that is facilitated by coordinated planning across multiple sectors.

Public hearings on School Education Amendment Bill
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Education will conduct public hearings on the Western Cape School Education Amendment Bill [B1-2018] as part of its constitutional responsibilities from 19 June to 21 August.
The main objectives of the bill are to amend the Western Cape Provincial School Education Act, 1997:

The Standing Committee on Local Government invites stakeholders and interested persons and organisations to attend public hearings and to make written submissions on the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Bill [B 23B – 2015].
Focus on Provincial Budget for 2018/19
From 23 to 28 March, the budgets of all Western Cape Government departments, 14 votes in total, will be debated in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. The Ministers responsible for the various votes, will open the debates, after which Members will deliberate the specific budgets. The process will culminate on 28 March, when Members will finalise the budget.
