Gender-based Violence and Femicide Consultative Session
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) will host a Gender-based Violence and Femicide Consultative Session on 28 October. The aim of the event is to bring together roleplayers from the local, provincial and national spheres of government, as well as non-governmental organisations, to share with one another the programmes currently running to combat the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide and provide a platform to share information on the successes and challenges of these programmes.
Handover of educational material
The Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament Hon Masizole Mnqasela will be presenting a set of educational materials to the principal of Jakes Gerwel Technical School in Bonnievale, on 24 October. Western Cape Minister for Education Debbie Schäfer will also be in attendance.
Possible impact of Special Appropriation Bill on Western Cape Economy
The Standing Committee on Finance, Economic Opportunities and Tourism has called for an urgent meeting with Provincial Treasury on 18 October. The aim of the meeting is for Provincial Treasury to brief the committee on the possible impact of the Special Appropriation Bill [B10 - 2019] on the Western Cape’s economy. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 13:00 to 14:00 in the Chamber, 6th Floor, Western Cape Provincial Parliament, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town.
Police Ombudsman to brief Standing Commitee
On 17 October the Western Cape Police Ombudsman will brief the Standing Committee on Community Safety, Cultural Affairs and Sport.

Nominations are invited for the appointment of the Western Cape Commissioner for Children in terms of section 2(2)(a) of the Western Cape Commissioner for Children Act, 2019 (Act 2 of 2019).
NCOP Provincial Visit Week
The National Council of Provinces (NCOP), in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) and representatives of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), will be embarking on a Provincial Visit Week from 16-20 September in the southern Cape.
Cluster A Visit Week
Cluster A, consisting of the Standing Committees on Community Safety, Cultural Affairs and Sport; Standing Committee on Social Development; Standing Committee on Health; Standing Committee on Education; and Standing Committee on Premier and Constitutional Matters, will conduct oversight visits to various facilties in Laingsburg from 27 to 28 August 2019.

Speaker's Debate commemorating National Women's Month
Speaker Masizole Mnqasela has announced that he has initiated a Speaker’s debate in commemoration of National Women’s Month to take place in the Chamber of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament on Thursday, 15 August 2019 at 14:15.
Official Opening and State of the Province Address
Earlier today the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament hosted the official opening of the first session of the Provincial Parliament.
The event was attended by some 300 guests and dignitaries including representatives of the Cape Town Consular Corps, mayors and municipal Speakers, former Premier of the Western Cape Helen Zille, Western Cape Police Commissioner General Jula, faith leaders and senior government officials.
