New Member sworn in

Daylin Mitchell was sworn in by Speaker Sharna Fernandez as the newest Member for the Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) on 21 September.

At 29, Mitchell is the youngest Member of the WCPP ever. During his political career he has served as young leader in the Democratic Alliance, as well as interim youth chairperson and deputy chairperson of the Western Cape Metro Region. From 2013 to 2014 he served as national director for provincial growth and guidance and from 2014, until becoming a Member, as Democratic Alliance chief of staff at the WCPP.

NCOP Visit Week

Members of the National Council of Provinces and the Western Cape Provincial Parliament will undertake oversight visits to various institutions in the Cape Town area from 14 to 17 September.

 

These oversight visits, under the theme “ Advancing infrastructure investment and development for better services to communities”, are intended to enable Parliament, the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), and particularly the National Council of Provinces, an opportunity to monitor the state of infrastructure.

In an effort to promote support for local clubs in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the National First Division (NFD), the committee hosted a finger lunch attended by executive members of Ajax Cape Town, Vasco and Milano United, as well as the coaches, management and players of Ajax Cape Town.
