Recommendation for Western Cape Commissioner for Children released
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Social Development is pleased to announce that on 19 March the House adopted its report on the appointment of a commissioner for Children in the Western Cape.
In terms of section 2(1) (2) (e) of the Western Commissioner for Children Act, 2019 (Act 2 of 2019), the Committee recommends that Ms Christina Nomdo be appointed as the Western Cape Commissioner for Children.
Parliamentary activities in light of Covid-19
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) shares the same concern as all South Africans for the situation in our country regarding the spread of COVID-19.
Media briefing on COVID-19 measures
The Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, Masizole Mnqasela, will be convening a media briefing on Thursday, 19 March at 08:30. The Speaker wishes to communicate the decisions taken by all the political parties represented in the WCPP to deal with the directives in the declaration of the President regarding the COVID-19 virus. The aim of the measures is to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus and ensure the health and well-being of Members, employees and stakeholders.
Gifts for Rocklands Educare Crèche
Premier Alan Winde, Western Cape Speaker Masizole Mnqasela and Social Development Minister Sharna Fernandez today visited the Rocklands Educare crèche to hand out gifts to the children and teachers.
