Whether there are any isolation facilities located in wards 61, 64, 69 and 71 (Cape Town) for patients infected with the COVID-19 virus; if so, how many (a) are public facilities, (b) are private facilities and (c) people does each type of facility accommodate;
(2) whether these facilities are operational; if not, when will they be operational;
(3) whether her Department has an agreement with private hospitals in these wards to treat and accommodate COVID-19 patients; if so, what are the relevant details?
- Isolation and quarantine facilities are not per ward, but per geographical area and across the province.
- 186 (provincial, municipal and national government owned facilities)
- 152 (private owned facilities)
*this excludes the Acute and Additional acute facilities as these are used to admit people requiring hospitalisation.
- These facilities are operational.
- We have agreements with all the major private hospital groups across the province to manage the epidemic collectively.
