Whether there are any isolation facilities located in wards 61, 64, 69 and 71 (Cape Town) for patients infected with the COVID-19 virus; if so, how many (a) are public facilities, (b) are private facilities and (c) people does each type of facility accommodate;

 

(2)  whether these facilities are operational; if not, when will they be operational;

 

(3)  whether her Department has an agreement with private hospitals in these wards to treat and accommodate COVID-19 patients; if so, what are the relevant details?

Answer Body: 
  1. Isolation and quarantine facilities are not per ward, but per geographical area and across the province.
  1. 186 (provincial, municipal and national government owned facilities)
  2. 152 (private owned facilities)

 

*this excludes the Acute and Additional acute facilities as these are used to admit people requiring hospitalisation.

 

  1. These facilities are operational.

 

  1. We have agreements with all the major private hospital groups across the province to manage the epidemic collectively.
