- How will the lockdown measures (a) affect learners who have yet to be placed for the current academic year and who are now at a greater disadvantage and (b) affect the academic programme for the remainder of the 2020 academic year;
- what are the details of the plan pertaining to the loss of contact time at schools?
(1) The number of unplaced learners has been reduced to 583. Plans have been put in place to ensure that they are placed at schools when schools re-open. Some of these arrangements were interrupted by Covid-19. Districts have drafted placement letters which will be issued to schools and parents when schools reopen.

(2) The WCED in collaboration with the DBE developed a guideline for curriculum trimming and reorganisation. A refocused teaching and assessment plan for all grades and subject is being developed to accommodate the phased return to schools for different grades based on a revised school calendar.
