  1. How will the lockdown measures (a) affect learners who have yet to be placed for the current academic year and who are now at a greater disadvantage and (b) affect the academic programme for the remainder of the 2020 academic year;

 

  1. what are the details of the plan pertaining to the loss of contact time at schools?
Answer Body: 

(1)       The number of unplaced learners has been reduced to 583. Plans have been put in place to ensure that they are placed at schools when schools re-open. Some of these arrangements were interrupted by Covid-19. Districts have drafted placement letters which will be issued to schools and parents when schools reopen.

(2)     The WCED in collaboration with the DBE developed a guideline for curriculum trimming and reorganisation. A refocused teaching and assessment plan for all grades and subject is being developed to accommodate the phased return to schools for different grades based on a revised school calendar.
