Human Settlements
(a) What is the status of the Lantana-Kolbe Housing Project in the Drakenstein Municipality, (b) how many units have been allocated measured against the number of qualifying beneficiaries and (c) what is the proposed plan to accommodate the non-qualifying beneficiaries who are currently staying on the premises?
(a) Project approval was granted by my department for the construction of 76 housing units and 84 serviced sites.
(b) To date, 51 units have been completed and allocated to approved beneficiaries.
The remaining 25 units will be constructed and completed during the current financial year and has already been provisionally allocated to the approved beneficiaries.
With regards to the serviced sites, 59 have already been serviced whilst delays in completing the remaining 25 have occurred due to structures that was in the way of construction.
The sites have subsequently been cleared and it is hoped that it will reach completion by the end of the current financial year.
(c) The provision of serviced sites will be made available to non-qualifying beneficiaries residing on the settlement.
