With regard to allegations of financial misconduct at the Oudtshoorn Municipality:

What progress has been made with the following investigations by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks): (a) CAS 59/05/2019, (b) CAS 60/05/2019, (c) CAS 172/06/2019 and (d) CAS 194/06/20?
 

Answer Body: 

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation/ HAWKS informed me as follows:
(a)    Said cases were referred to the office of the Directorate for Public Prosecutions (DPP), Cape Town on 28 November 2019 for a decision.
(b)    On 19 June 2020 these matters were referred by the Office of the DPP to the office of the Specialised Commercial Crime Unit (SCCU), the Bellville offices had been closed for some time due to the pandemic.
(c)    On 7 July 2020 a prosecutor was appointed to peruse the case files and make a decision and / or give guidance on further investigation in terms of the Prosecutor Guided Investigation (PGI) approach to dockets under investigation by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.
(d)    Said decision and / or guidance is awaited.
