- Whether her Department is in negotiations with the de Villiers URC and Herold Meander in the George municipal area to buy the Franken Primary School land; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
- whether a formal agreement has been reached between her Department and the church for the sale of the land; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
- what are the details of the people involved in the negotiations and who is the person who has the authority to sign the agreement on behalf of the church;
- whether her department has been paying the church rent for the use of land without a valid lease agreement in the past; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
- (1) The WCED has not entered into negotiations with the De Villiers URC or Harold Meander to buy the Franken Primary School land. With the limited budget, the acquisition of this school has not been prioritised by the WCED.
- (2) As indicated above, no negotiations have started and therefore no agreement has been reached.
(3) As indicated above, there are no negotiations and therefore there are no details of people involved in the negotiations to disclose.
(4) The WCED has continued paying the church rent for the use of the land. The lease agreement is continuing on a month-to-month basis, due to the school remaining in occupation of the school building and no termination notice being sent.
