Child Protection:

  • Families participated in family preservation programs;
  • Investigations were conducted to determine whether children need care and protection;

  • Parents and caregivers attended training sessions.
  • Victim support services were rendered to child victims;
  • Trauma reports were compiled.
  • Children and parents participated in child abuse prevention programmes

Social Crime Prevention:

  • Children in conflict with the law were assessed,
  • Children was referred to diversion programmes; and
  • Participated in diversion programmes.
  • Children participated in crime prevention programs.
  • Adults in conflict with the law were referred to diversion programmes; and
  • Participated in diversion.
  • Pre-sentence reports were compiled.

Social Relief of Distress:

  • Clients benefitted from undue-hardship; and

  • Substance abuse prevention programs were implemented.

 

Youth Development:

  • Young people were linked to skills development and other opportunities.

  • Screening assessments were conducted for admission to residential facilities;
  • Clients participated in therapeutic and support services;

  1. 3(a) Complete a disability grant application form at your nearest South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office in the presence of a SASSA officer. Bring along:
      1. A medical report and functional assessment report confirming your disability.
      2. Proof of marital status (if applicable).
      3. Proof of residence.
      4. Proof of income or dividends (if any).
      5. Proof of assets, including the municipal value of your property.
      6. Proof of private pension (if any).
      7. Your bank statements for the past three months.
      8. Refugee status permit and 13-digit refugee ID.
      9. Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) document ('blue book') or discharge certificate from your previous employer if you were employed.
      10. A copy of the will and the first and final liquidation and distribution accounts, if your spouse died within the last five years.    

After submitting your application, you will be given a receipt to keep as proof of application.

(b) List of beneficiaries receiving disability grant can only be obtained by SASSA and not by DSD.
