It was reported that on 7 July 2020 that 30 000 firearms would have been destroyed in Vereeniging, Gauteng, by the SAPS:
(a) How many of these destroyed firearms were confiscated in the Western Cape and (b) over what period have they been confiscated?
Answer Body:
The South African Police Services informed me as follows:
(a) 1 697 firearms
(b) The firearms were confiscated between 24 June 1999 and 27 September 2019.
