  1. How many police stations have closed during the (i) first and (ii) second wave (mid-November 2020 to present) of COVID-19 infections across the province, (b) what is the turnaround time for the closure of stations, (c) what is the contingency plan for the closure of stations if prolonged for longer than 24 hours and (d) how many staff members have lost their lives due to COVID-19 per unit of the Western Cape police service?

 

Answer Body: 

The South African Police Services informed me as follows:

8.       (a) (i) 0 (Services are temporarily relocated in case of decontamination)

               (ii) 0 (Services are temporarily relocated in case of decontamination)

  1. The temporary relocation time is between 2 and 12 hours depending on the decontamination authority.
  1. All police stations have identified alternative facilities in case of temporary closure.
