With regard to the employment of a certain person, whose name has been furnished to his Department for the purpose of the reply, in his Department:

1. Whether the appointment of this person has been discussed with the Minister of Agriculture; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

2. at what stage was he informed about the appointment;

3. whether any performance appraisal has been conducted for this position; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

Answer Body: 

              (1)      No, the appointment was not discussed with the Minister of Agriculture. It is not required by any credible recruitment & selection process nor by any human resource protocol.  

(2)       The appointment was not discussed with the Minister.

              (3)       The official assumed duty on 1 April 2020, completed a performance agreement timeously and will be formally assessed as per the mid-year review process to be concluded by 31 October 2020. He has, however, been subjected to the required quarterly probation reporting processes as required and has performed satisfactorily and effectively in terms of the job description.
