Security
The South African Police Service is mandated to ensure the safety of such members.
However, each department is responsible for incidental costs in respect of accommodation for SAPS member when accompanying the Minister or overtime that SAPS claims back from the relevant department.
Another security cost could be security arrangements at a member’s private residence. This expenditure is first borne by the member and then claimed from the Department of Transport and Public Works.
The member is advised to refer this part of the question directly to relevant department to get accurate answer.
