Transport and Public Works
On 17 February 2021 the Premier announced that the Province had acquired 130 hectares of land that will have the potential to create 13 000 housing opportunities:
- What was the extent of each land parcel that was acquired in which neighbourhoods of each town or the city that makes up 130 hectares, (b) when was each parcel of land that makes up the 130 hectares acquired, (c) from where (from a private property owner or a state department) was each land parcel that makes up the 130 hectares acquired and (d) what was the total purchase price of each parcel of land?
The Department of Transport and Public Works does not acquire land for the creation of housing opportunities, as the acquisition of such land falls within the mandate of the Department of Human Settlements.
- The extent of land in the portfolio of the DTPW acquired for the creation of housing opportunities is therefore zero.
- The DTPW has therefore not at any time acquired land for the creation of housing opportunities.
- The DTPW has therefore not acquired land from anyone (i.e. from either a property owner or a state department) for the creation of housing opportunities.
- The DTPW has therefore not incurred any expenditure in terms of purchase prices for the acquisition of land for the creation of housing opportunities.
