With reference to the Klapmuts Clinic:
(1) What is the granted staff capacity at the Klapmuts Clinic;
(2) whether there are any vacancies at the clinic; if so, what is the expected date to fill these vacancies;
(3) whether her Department has received requests for an additional clinical nurse practitioner (CNP); if so, is the filling of this position treated as a priority;
(4) what are the outstanding infrastructural needs at the clinic;
(5) whether any of the needs identified in (4) are currently treated as a priority; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
(6) what is the status on the process to establish a Clinic Committee?
1. The staffing complement consists of:
• Operational Manager x 1
• Clinical Nurse Practitioner x2
• Professional Nurse x2
• Enrolled Nurse x2
• Post Basic Pharmacy Assistant x1
• Admin Clerk x2
• Admin Clerk – Intern x1 (I year contract)
• Security Guard x1 (Contract)
• Cleaner x2 (Contract)
• Lay Counsellor x 3 (NGO – Contract)
2. With regard to vacancies, the following positions are vacant and have been advertised:
• Operational Manager post vacant since 31/08/2021. Advertising of post in the process (filling Nov/Dec 2021)
• Clinical Nurse Practitioner post vacant since 30/05/2021. Interviews done 27/08/2021 – filing Oct/Nov 2021
3. The Department has received a request for an additional post of Clinical Nurse Practitioner and is currently on the priority list of the substructure office.
4. In reference to the outstanding infrastructure needs, as soon as the erf is transferred the Business Case will address the infrastructural needs and challenges. A Pharmacy focussed project will address the extension of the Dispensary, however no timelines yet.
5. Several needs have been identified. The Department of Transport and Public Works is is in the process of acquiring the adjacent site and arranging the necessary subdivision and consolidation of the property, for future upgrade and additions to the facility. Only when the land acquisition has been finalised can we proceed with a briefing document based on a Business Case in terms of additions to the facilities and also in terms of priority infrastructure projects.
With respect to the future upgrade and additions to the facility, the plan is currently as follows:
• Anticipated date for issuing Strategic Brief: End Dec 2023/Mar 2025
• Anticipated Practical Completion date: End May 2026/Mar 2027
• Above includes Clinic Upgrade and Additions, as well as Health Technology.
6. The nomination process of members to serve on the Clinic Committee has been completed as well as the vetting process. Recommended nominees have been submitted to MEC office for approval and we are now awaiting their appointment letters.
