From her reply to question 17 of 28 February 2020, which provided a list of schools that do not have their own libraries, it is clear that many of these schools are situated in poor areas:
- How many libraries or computer rooms have been built at schools since 2009, (b) where have these libraries or computer rooms been built, (c) how many of these schools are previous model C schools and (d) how much money has been set aside for this very important educational resource?
- (a) Since 2009, a total of 115 brick and mortar schools (new and replacement) have been built to date. Provision for either a library, computer room or a multi-media centre has been made at these schools.

- The WCED is continuously striving towards equipping new brick and mortar schools with a multi-media centre and providing connectivity throughout the school building. Such cost forms part and parcel of the total project cost. There is currently no separate dedicated budget or programme allocated for the construction of individual computer rooms or libraries.
