Whether there are any hospitals and/or clinics in the province that have employed private consultants to perform medical male circumcisions; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) what are the costs associated with this?
Medical Male Circumcision (MMC) is a departmental service that has been outsourced to NPOs. Most circumcisions are performed within health facilities. In Rural districts it is paid for through the conditional grant and in the Metro it is paid for by USAID. Both tenders allow the service providers to use suitably competent general practitioners when necessary. All NPOs are paid per cut – the all-inclusive fee ranges between R1 390.00 and R1 500 per cut.
