With regard to the over 20 000 learners accepted at more than one school by 24 June 2021:
(1) How many parents have accepted the school of choice for their children for placement by 25 June;
(2) whether these are the only new applications received; if so, (a) what is the number of learners per grade and (b) how many were placed automatically due to non-compliance by the confirmation date?
Due to the nature of the system tracking placement (live data as opposed to data downloaded and saved at particular timepoints), the department is not able to provide the subset of the 20 000+ accepted at more than one school. The data provided below relates to all applications for the 2022 school year.
(1) Confirmed on or before the 25 June 2021 deadline: 72 913
(2) (a) No, these were not the only applications. The breakdown of total applications per grade is as follows:
