With regard to Community Policing Forums (CPFs) in Mitchells Plain:

 

(1)    (a) How many CPFs does his Department work with and (b) what are the relevant details of the CPFs;

 

(2)    whether his Department provide any support, financial or otherwise, to these CPF; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

 

(3)    what (a) training and (b) equipment does his Department provide to CPFs in the area?

(1)    (a)  The Department works with two Community Police Forums (CPFs) in the Mitchells Plain area, namely Mitchells Plain and Lentegeur CPFs.

(2)   The Department provided support by means of the Expanded Partnership Programme (EPP) for CPFs. The EPP provides a structured approach for CPFs to fulfil their legislative mandate.

Neither the Lentegeur nor Mitchells Plan CPFs participated on the EPP during the 2020-21 financial year. During the previous financial year, Mitchells Plain received funding support to the amount of R2,704.00. The Department also provided support by means of various interactive engagements with the two CPFs in Mitchells Plain, which included:

  • Orientation sessions for newly elected CPF Executive Committee members; and
  • Workshops with CPFs and sectors.

          (3)  (a)  As noted above, training in the form of orientation sessions and workshops took place.

                 (b)  The Department does not provide equipment to CPFs.
