What is the (a) required number of buccal samples for the Western Cape per annum and (b) what was the shortage in (i) 2016, (ii) 2017, (iii) 2018, (iv) 2019, (v) 2020, and (vi) 2021 to date?

Answer Body: 

The South African Police Service informed me as follows:

5.      (a)  (i)    2016/2017      -           13 920

                 (ii)   2017/2018      -           27 910

                 (iii)  2018/2019      -           39 700

                 (iV) 2019/2020      -           48 069

                 (v)   2020/2021      -           34 374

                 (vi)  2021/2020      -           35 775

                    (b)  (i)    The needs are determined annually and submitted to Division SCM. All samples requested, were received during the relevant financial year. Delays in delivery dates sometimes poses challenges.

                 (ii)   Same as above.
