Human Settlements
With regard to housing opportunities in the City of Cape Town:
- (a) What amount of the budget for housing in the Municipality has been used in the 2020/21 financial year, (b) what is the target for the number of housing opportunities that the metropolitan municipality aims to deliver in the 2020/21 financial year, (c) how many are (i) Breaking New Ground (BNG) developments, (ii) Finance-linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP) housing, (iii) new rental units and (iv) non-credit linked housing developments;
- whether the City of Cape Town is on track to fulfil its targets; if not, why not;
- (a) what challenges has the City of Cape Town faced in delivering housing opportunities in the metropolitan area, (b) how many housing developments are currently under construction and (c) in what phase is each one of these developments currently?
Regarding housing opportunities in the City of Cape Town:
(1)(a) 284 million spent during the 2020/21 financial year.
(b) The municipality aims to deliver 2,560 in the 2020/21 financial year.
(c)(i) 15 Breaking New Ground (BNG)developments. (see table below)
(ii) 637 Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP) housing opportunities which was funded by my department.
(iii) 1 Social Housing project – Glenhaven Social (416).
(iv) 228 Non -credit linked housing developments which was funded by my department.
(2) The City of Cape Town will underperform slightly due to COVID 19 delays.
(3) (a) Due to the pandemic, construction on most projects were delayed.
(b) 16 Housing developments are currently under construction.
