Whether all the municipalities in the province have details of land ownership and (b) if a detailed breakdown of public and private land ownership in municipalities can be provided, including (i) residential, (ii) farms, (iii) commercial, (iv) serviced, (v) unserviced, (vi) open spaces, (vii) provincial government land and (viii) national government land; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
(a) Yes. All Municipalities within the Western Cape Province have Valuation Rolls which illustrates all properties residing within the respective municipalities jurisdiction and can be obtained on the municipal websites.
(b) A detailed breakdown of public and private land ownership cannot be provided by this Department. The details of such Valuation Rolls consist of the property description, physical address, name of the registered owner, extent of the property and the market value and is displayed on the municipal websites and offices for public inspection. All properties being public, private land ownership including (i) residential, (ii) farming, (iii) commercial, (iv) serviced, (v) unserviced, (vi) open spaces (vii) provincial government land and (viii) national government land, are listed in the Valuation Rolls of the respective municipalities, as mentioned above.
