On 26 March 2019 the previous Minister of Human Settlements confirmed to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament that 8,4 hectare of land was being released in the Bo-Kaap, Oranjezicht, Tamboerskloof and in the CBD of Cape Town for “extraordinary high-density” housing for 10 000 beneficiaries:

  1. How many hectares of land have been transferred to the Department of Human Settlements by the Department of Transport and Public Works in the Bo-Kaap, Oranjezicht, Tamboerskloof and the CBD for housing purposes;

 

  1. what are the details of the land that has been transferred, including (a) where this land is, (b) when it was transferred and (c) what the size of the land is;

 

  1. what housing projects are planned for each site, including (a) the type of housing, (b) who will develop it and (c) how will the beneficiaries be identified;

 

  1. who will develop this housing;

 

  1. what progress has been made with the development of housing at each site?
Answer Body: 

My department has not received transfer of land in Bo-Kaap, Oranjezicht, Tamboerskloof nor in the CBD from any state Department. There have not been any properties transferred to my department.

            (4) No detail can be provided as there has not been any properties transferred to

            my department.
