(a) What are the (i) details, (ii) ages, (iii) gender and (iv) qualifications of the persons who applied for the position of Chief Education Specialist: Governance and Examination (Specialist Advisor), (b) how many persons were shortlisted, (c) when was the need for the position identified and created and (d) when was the last day in office as Head of the Western Cape Education Department of a certain person whose name has been furnished to her Department for the purpose of her reply?

(iii)    9 male and 10 female

          (iv)    14 applicants had education qualifications

       2 applicants had Psychology qualifications

      1 applicant had a music qualification

      1 applicant had an Engineering qualification

      1 applicant had a degree in Science

(b)    Only one person was shortlisted. The other 17 candidates did not meet all the requirements for the post.

(c)    Concerns had been raised during the first quarter of the 2021 year that a line of senior leadership was exiting the WCED at the same time (In particular, the examinations function of the department). The post was advertised in April 2021 to mitigate this.
