                  (2)   Yes.  Ms. Zantzi resigned on 23 July 2021 with immediate effect.  She did not provide any reasons for her resignation.

                (3)   (a)  No

      (b)  The CVs and nomination forms received from candidates by 30 June 2021 have been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament to refer the matter to the Standing Committee on Community Safety, Cultural Affairs and Sport (SC) to evaluate the candidates as to their suitability for appointment and for its recommendations to the Minister of Community Safety (the Minister) as required by Section 3(3) of the Western Cape Liquor Act. 2008 (Act 4 of 2008) (the Act).  Once the recommendations are received from the SC, it will be considered by the Minister and a final decision will be made on the filling of the two vacancies that existed on 30 June 2021.  The Department is unable to provide an exact date of such appointments at this time.

Ms. Zantsi resigned on 23 July 2021 with immediate effect.  The process of publishing an invitation to submit nominations for appointment on the Board to fill this vacancy as prescribed by the Act is currently in progress. 

No delays have been experienced in the filling of vacancies on the Board. In the previous round of appointments, only five (5) of the seven (7) vacancies were filled based on the suitability of the nominees. A second round of invitations to submit nominations for appointment on the Board was embarked on with a closing date of 30 June 2021 and is currently in progress.
