With reference to the reply to question 15 and question 16 published in the Question Paper for Written Reply dated 2 October 2020:

(1)    Whether Prasa has submitted any of the information that was requested by his Department relating to the following; if so, what are the relevant details regarding significant vandalism and theft during the COVID-19 lockdown period;

(2)    whether an audit or survey has been done to ascertain the implications for restoring rail services after the COVID-19 lockdown period; if so, what are the relevant details;

(3)    whether an audit or survey has been done to determine the total kilometer of rail that (a) currently is not in use in the province, (b) is not in use in the province as a result of vandalism or theft and (c) cannot be accessed in the province due to the illegal occupation of land; if so, what are the relevant details;

(4)    how many of the train stations and train sets in the province are (a) operational and (b) non-operational?
 

Answer Body: 

(1)    The Department has forwarded Mr Mitchell’s request for information to PRASA but, to date, the information has not been forthcoming.  We are hopeful that the information will be provided at some point in the near future, and we will forward it to the member at that time.
