  4. The WCG subscribes to the principle of open competition - where all possible contenders can compete for a post. The Regulatory Framework does not prohibit the appointment of relatives into public service, provided that –
  5. the process is open and fair;
  6. the selection panel is independent and transparent;
  7. the candidate is suitably qualified with the required competencies (i.e. formal qualifications, proven track record of relevant experience) and abilities to do the job, and
  8. the candidate is found to be the best suited for the post, based on the applied selection methods (interview, role-play/practical assessment and where applicable competency assessment)

The Provincial Forensic Services (PFS) offers anti-fraud and corruption awareness sessions, including “Anti-Corruption Awareness in Recruitment & Selection”, which deals with nepotism and favouritism.  The PFS’ “Basic Introduction to Fraud and Corruption” module also introduces the subject of fraud and corruption in recruitment and selection.
